On Sunday Aug. 20th during our family meeting the elders shared a financial update and some plans moving forward.
Jonathan shared several verses of scripture reminding us that how we handle our finances are an issue of discipleship before the Lord, and encouraged us to commit to a pattern of regular giving.
The elders shared that we have been exploring options for rental income utilizing our building. And asked that if you know of or hear of a group, sports team, party, wedding, etc that is seeking space to rent, that you share our rental information. We also shared that we will have an office space available for rent soon and are seeking a long-term renter.
We also are creating several teams that are designed to help us as we pursue healthy congregational growth by being more effective at:
A) Reaching through increased marketing efforts, those who may not have heard of Journey and/or don’t realize why they would need a relationship with Jesus and His church. If you are interested in helping with our marketing team, please contact Anne Irvine - anneirvine71@gmail.com
B) Connecting those whose contact info we have gathered, and those who have attended a Sunday morning gathering or some other Journey event with the available next-steps. Joe & Andrea Correll are heading up our Assimilation team and are looking for those interested in helping. Please contact them - cratesswim@hotmail.com
Here is the current financial situation that was shared, including how you can be a part of the solution:
1) At the halfway point of August, our giving is trailing our spending at roughly $3,000/month for 2023.
2) If we take that $3,000/month divided by the number of givers (20) it means we would need 20 x $150 additional giving per month.
3) We are asking you, our church family, to prayerfully consider if you are in a position to cover one or more of those $150/month portions through the end of the year. We ask this knowing that some will not be in a position, some will be in a position to meet one portion, and others will be in a position to meet more than one portion.
4) Additionally, we are asking what your giving plans are for 2024 so that we can more effectively budget. Do you intend to give less than, the same as, or more than you have given in 2023.
Please prayerfully answer the survey questions below.
