2 - BRAZILFEST in September with a date to be determined. Would you attend it?

3 - BRAZILIAN CHILDREN SONGS workshop for Brazilian kids (brasileirinhos) and their relatives, with sessions by a Brazilian local singer.

4 - BRAZILIAN FOLKLORE workshop with sessions per age group (3 to 5 & 6 to 10). The sessions will focus on selected stories of Brazilian Folklore such as ‘Curupira’, ‘Saci’, ‘Cuca’, ‘Mula sem Cabeça’, ‘Iara’, ‘Boto cor-de-rosa’, incorporating the use of the Portuguese language, with English explanations when required.

5 - REGIONAL IDENTITIES FOR CHILDREN workshop for two age groups (6 to 10 & 11-13) to offer familiarization with the Brazilian region and their respective cultural, geographical, culinary and verbal expressions. The sessions aim to foster conditions for developing the children's sense of belonging to Brazil in connection with their family heritage.

6 - ‘CORDEL & XILOGRAVURA’ FOR CHILDREN workshop (ages 6 to 10) The sessions will focus on the reading and production of ‘cordel’ literature as a cultural heritage of the Northeastern region of Brazil. Also included is an arts & crafts session of ‘xilogravura’.

7 - BRAZILIAN DANCE FOR KIDS workshop. These sessions are offered to stimulate the learning of Brazilian moves for dances to selected traditional songs for the youth. Simple and basic choreography will be used. The instructor is a Brazilian local dancer.

8 - BRAZILIAN DANCES FOR ADULTS workshop. These sessions will be offered as an overview of the Brazilian rhythms with simple and basic choreography for beginners. The instructor will be a Brazilian dancer, and it maybe offered with a mixed approach to the format, online and in person sessions. Rhythms should be samba, forró and possible others. The registration and sessions will be specific for each rhythm.

9 - STAMPEDE PARADE Friday, July 9 - BCA took part three times in the past of this traditional parade in Calgary, winning the 2009 Best Cultural Entry and the President’s Choice Award! There are a limited number of participants in the parade based on the regulations. However, before we register for the parade we need to know if we can count on a good number of volunteers to work with the decoration of the truck’s flatbed (float) for a good expression of the Brazilian culture. Are you interested to take part in this project?

10 - BCA LIBRARY - The BCA Library has been organized for many years, and we believe it will finally become available to start lending in the near future. Throughout these many years, we were fortunate to have the help and expertise of many volunteers of many hours of contribution to its organization and setup. Currently, we have more than 1,000 books with the majority of them being of Brazilian authors or others but in Brazilian Portuguese, and a few are in English with topics related to Brazilian issues. The books were donated over the years by Brazilians of our region. At the moment, we need to organize a group of volunteers to finalize some organizing issues at our location Casa do Brasil at the same time we need to set up a schedule to host the interested ones to visit the library, as well as borrow/return books. Are you interested and available to take part in this project?

11 - PERCUSSION WORKSHOP. These sessions will be offered online with the possibility of in-person sessions, or mixed ones, depending upon the interest of the group. The instructor is a percussion musician with strong knowledge and practice of the samba - batucada. Would you take part in this workshop?

12 - FUNDRAISER CASINO - June 16 (Thursday) & 17 (Friday) - Calgary Cowboys Casino - Many shifts available day and night, also many positions. It is not required to speak English fluently and training is simple and included at the beginning of your shift. Many of our programs, also our facility are possible because of the funding we have been receiving from these charity casinos since the first one in 2007, and the ones that follow at about every 2 years, with the last one held in September of 2019.

13 - INFO SESSIONS SERIES. This series of info-sessions has been offered before a few times organized by the BCA. The topics can be many and we list below some that have already been offered along with some new ones to check about the interest to include them in the upcoming series. We can also consider your suggestions. All speakers are qualified professionals, in Brazilian Portuguese. These sessions will probably be offered online or in a mixed format. Please check as many topics as you find of interest.
