Open Call For Broadcasts
About Resonance
Based in Southwark, London, Resonance is London’s community radio organisation for the arts & culture. Our ambition is to provide a broadcast platform through which as many volunteers as possible can exercise “the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community and to enjoy the arts” (Article 27, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights). We operate two distinct 24/7 radio services from our base on Risborough Street, London SE1 and operate a community studio facility for our target community.
Resonance FM (est. 2002) is a community radio station powered by volunteers and dedicated to London’s arts & culture licenced by Ofcom to broadcast on 104.4 FM (Central London), DAB (Greater London) and online worldwide at resonancefm.com/listen.
Resonance Extra (est. 2015) is the UK's only 24/7 digital broadcasting platform dedicated to sound art, radio art and experimental musics. It is broadcast online via extra.resonance.fm and on DAB+ Digital Radio to a footprint of 4 million people in Brighton & Hove, Cambridge, Greater London, Kings’ Lynn, Norwich and Peterborough.
Open Call for Broadcasts
We’re seeking broadcast proposals for Resonance FM and Resonance Extra respectively which reflect and expand the unique character of each service. We will consider all proposals, however we have provided some guidance below as to the kinds of proposals that are more likely to be taken forward. Regrettably, we do not have the resources to give feedback or provide responses to the individual proposals that we are not taking forward.
We are more likely to take forward proposals:
- For live broadcasts to be realised at our studios in SE1.
- For weekly programmes (we also consider monthly, or one-off).
- That reflect or expand on the unique character of each service.
- Spotlighting cultural material of interest to our target community.
- To create original broadcasts for Resonance (no syndications).
- That involve the realisation of live art and/or original radio works.
- That have a live literary or radio art element.
We will not take forward:
- Unfunded proposals from well-resourced organisations.
- Proposals for playlist-based or mixtape-style programmes.
- Music programming covering genres that are well-represented on radio.
- Proposals for syndicated shows or work developed primarily as a podcast.
- Proposals which closely match the content of an existing programme.
Please note:
- No broadcasting experience is required.
- We are particularly interested to hear proposals from artists and community voices which are traditionally under-represented in mainstream broadcasting.
- Any pre-application questions should be directed to ideas@resonancefm.com.
This Open Call closes on Noon on Tuesday 22 April 2025.
